Comedy is a very subjective genre.

For me, I have never understood the fascination with Key & Peele, but I know people think they are really funny. I have only seen one skit that I really liked (the Gremlins 2 sketch), but everything else I am the guy sitting in the room trying to figure out why everyone else is laughing.

I did love Jordan Peele's directorial debut Get Out earlier this year. But that is so far from Keanu, a comedy about a man trying to get his kitty Keanu back after he is taken by some gangsters in the area.

Peele plays Rell, a pothead that gets the kitty after a breakup leaves him in a miserable place. His friend Clarence (Keegan-Michael Key) is the straight laced one, the more "white" one of the two, listening to George Michael and the like. THEY ARE SO MISMATCHED!

When Rell's place is robbed, they take Keanu, and that leads the two to a local gang lord named Cheddar (Method Man). That then takes them deeper and deeper, including a cartel where Keanu might have come from originally.

I laughed maybe twice in this entire thing, and it came from Key trying to get some other gang members to really like George Michael. There are some decent cameos, but I found this a bit hard to get through, which obviously isn't what you want in a comedy. Go watch Get Out instead.

Keanu is now streaming on HBO Go and HBO Now.
