The tale of Gus and Mickey's relationship digs a little deeper in the second season of the Netflix series.

After things fell apart, then came back together, we find Gus and Mickey right where we left off in season 1. They are at the gas station, reconciling, but also not getting back together. They agree to take it slow, but that doesn't last long as the spark they felt in the first season comes back. They get back into a relationship, but a job in Atlanta takes Gus away for awhile, which could mess up all the progress they have made.

The second season is more about Gus and Mickey's personal problems, and how they work through them. It leans more to the Mickey side, and she is an alcoholic, as well as a love and sex addict. Gus is a little less serious, but bad for Mickey because he tries to fix everything, and the mess that has been done to Mickey for years is not something he can fix.

Love is a lot more insightful about the inner workings of a relationship than I think it gets credit for when people talk about couple shows. That definitely continues into the second season, but I am wondering how long they can keep it up. Over the two seasons, they have only covered a couple of months in their relationship, so there is a bit more in which to mine. But at some point, it is going to be repetitive, and that creeps in at times in season 2. Still, the performance of Gillian Jacobs (Don't Think Twice), and the chemistry she has with Paul Rust is enough to keep it going a little bit longer.

The first two seasons of Love are now streaming on Netflix.
