This movie basically started 1990s cinema, and set the course for what it would look like over the next several years.

Quentin Tarantino's voice was unlike anything that had been heard in movies at the time. It was rough, raw, but also poetic as the words poured out of his characters. His first film follows a group of criminals, all known by a colored alias (Mr. Pink, Mr. Orange, etc.), as a heist goes horribly wrong. Tim Roth plays a rat in the group that gets found out.

Reservoir Dogs is iconic cinema and would probably be remembered even more if Pulp Fiction had not exploded two years later. This is filled with truly memorable scenes as well, especially that of Michael Madsen dancing to Stuck in the Middle With You by Stealers Wheel while torturing Roth. Tarantino was an unique voice, from his language, to his choice of soundtrack, the to the rough and tumble actors he got to play the criminals. It was obvious from the beginning, he was definitely an original.

Reservoir Dogs is now streaming on Netflix.

Rating: ***1/2
