Suicide Squad breaks August Box Office record

By Kenny Howell

Despite bad reviews, and fanboys petitioning to shut down Rotten Tomatoes because of people having the audacity to have different opinions than them, Suicide Squad made a ton of money.

The DC comic book franchise pulled in $135 million which was way more than enough to take first place and set a record for an August release. They actually beat a Marvel property, Guardians of the Galaxy, for that prize.

Way, way back in second place is Jason Bourne, last week's no. 1, which still had a solid weekend with $22.7 million.

Bad Moms continued to be strong in third with another $14.2 million, enough to more than double its original budget.

Rounding out the top five is The Secret Life of Pets with $11.6 million, and Star Trek Beyond with $10.2 million.

Check out the entire weekend box office chart at Box Office Mojo.
