Don't Breathe defeats Suicide Squad

By Kenny Howell

After three weeks at the top, Suicide Squad has been dethroned.

Don't Breathe had a strong opening weekend, pulling in $26.1 million. That might not seem huge, but remember, it is August, and the movie only cost $9.9 million to make.

Suicide Squad reached the $175 million mark domestically with another $12.1 million.

Kubo and the Two Strings actually rose a spot over last week to number three with $7.9 million. It still is struggling a bit, only grossing $24.4 million on a $60 million budget.

Another animated movie, though very different, Sausage Party dropped to fourth $7.7 million.

The other new release of the week, Mechanic: Resurrection rounded out the top five with $7.5 million.
