Raunchy comedy beats family fare at weekend box office

In a battle of a raunchy R-rated comedy, and a family cartoon, film goers decided to go dirty.

22 Jump Street won the weekend box office with a huge $60 million opening. That's the second biggest opening of a R-rated comedy of all-time behind The Hangover Part II.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 didn't quite have the opening that was expected, but still came in at $50 million.

Maleficent had another good weekend at $19 million, and Edge of Tomorrow was able to only drop one spot to fourth with $16.2 million.

Last week's number one, The Fault in Our Stars dropped off quite a bit, falling all the way to fifth at $15.7 million. It doesn't matter at this point because it has made $81 million on just a $12 million budget.
