The Legend of Hercules (2014) - Directed by Renny Harlin; Written by Sean Hood, Daniel Giat, Harlin, Giulio Steve; Starring Kellen Lutz, Gaia Weiss, Scott Adkins.

This seems like it was made to just get on the podcast How'd This Get Made.

Or to just fill up those bargain bins at gas stations.

Hercules is back for some reason. If you don't know, Hercules is the son of Zeus. Zeus impregnates him a lady, and Hercules doesn't know of his divine father. He is in love with Hebe, but she is engaged to his brother, not willingly. But he's a hero, and when he realizes later in life, he has to protect his people, and overthrow a tyrant ruler.

This movie just looks cheap. It looks like another Hercules movie was a big blockbuster, and this one was the one that was made by some crappy studio to hit the Blockbuster Video shelves before the better one came out on VHS. The special effects are terrible. The fight scenes are silly. The bad guys will stand still so the good guy can finish his spin and slash him with his sword. The costumes look like they were bought at one of those Halloween stores that is open for a month out of the year. There is a scene where Hercules beds his love kind of spontaneously in the forest, and luckily there is a place made up nearby complete with billowing drapes that hang from the surrounding branches.

I could go on, but it isn't worth the time. Avoid it.

The Legend of Hercules is also available at Redbox, iTunes and Amazon.
