Now at Netflix: The World's End (2013)

The World's End (2013) - Directed by Edgar Wright; Written by Wright and Simon Pegg; Starring Pegg, Nick Frost, Martin Freeman, Rosamund Pike, Pierce Brosnan, Paddy Considine.

By Kenny Howell

The Cornetto Trilogy goes out with a bang, literally, as the boys who made Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz fend off mysterious beings that have taken over their hometown.

Pegg plays Gary King, a guy whose maturity stopped at the end of high school. Back then, a group of his friends tried to hit every pub in town in one night, trying to finish at The World's End. It didn't work, so Gary gets the extremely reluctant group back together to give it another shot. They are 20 years older, and probably not equipped for a night of drinking, but Gary isn't going to let that slow them down. However, Gary has an altercation with a guy in the bathroom that reveals something is weird with the people of their hometown.

This, much like Hot Fuzz, is not able to reach the great heights of Shaun of the Dead. However, also like Hot Fuzz, this movie is very funny and just a good time. The fight scenes are silly, and the conclusion is very well done. It's a good, fitting wrap up to what is supposed to be the end of the trilogy.

The World's End is also available at Redbox, iTunes and Amazon Instant.
