Fun little movie written by actress Zoe Kazan about a writer bringing a girlfriend to his life with his writing.

Paul Dano (Prisoners) plays Calvin Wier-Fields, a writer that hit the big time when he was young, but has trouble connecting with people. While dealing with writer's block, he decides to create a female character, and she pops up in his life. Thinking she is just a figment of his imagination, because he has dealt with those sort of issues before. However, she is at his house one morning making him eggs, and he takes her out in public to find out that other people can see her.

His brother says that he should continue to write about her and change her into the perfect woman, but Calvin resists. Until Ruby starts to maybe lose interest in him.

The premise is a fun one, and the filmmakers do go as far as they can with it. However, they start to lose it a bit, and a turn late takes the movie in a different direction, though it does recover. The star is the writer/actress Kazan (The Pretty One) who plays the ever changing Ruby perfect to a tee.
